Floppy Disk Bag

I got the chance to recycle some old floppy disks from work the other week. I decided to start by making a brief case. It was actually very difficult, way more difficult than one might think. Anyway, Proto type number two looks much better than the first one. It's still missing the bag straps. Here are some pictures, tell me what you think!

Hiking

On Monday, Megan and I went for a little hike in western Maryland. Its a pretty easy trail that leads up to a big rock outcrop called Annapolis Rocks.

Washington, D.C.

Yesterday Megan and I went down to DC for the day. We went to the Air & Space Museum and the Museum of Natural History. It was really fun to see so much interesting stuff in one day. Here are some of our favorites.

This is the command module from Apollo 11. Michael Collins got to
hang in here orbiting the moon, while Lance Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin walked on the moon.

There was a huge exhibit of animal skeletons. Here is Megan next to her 2nd love, a leatherback sea turtle.

Coolest sculpture ever. It was titled something like "Thinker on a Rock". I can't imagine a better use of my tax dollars.

In the Museum of Natural History there was a huge exhibit on minerals and gems. They had some finished diamonds that were about a million carats, but I thought the colorful minerals were way better.

McCrooner

Every Monday night at a McDonalds near our home, a group of lounge singers serenade the Mickey D dinning guests with vocal entertainment and aisle dancing. We decided to check it out this week for our family home evening activity. It was amazing how many regulars show up for the event. About 100 elderly chicken Mcnugget eaters packed the fastfood booths. If it hadn't been for two small children who entered the building just after us, we would have easily been the youngest individuals present.

This brings us to another one of the evenings wonderful surprises - the McDonald's condiment bar! This, in my opinion, was just as exciting as the live show. I love condiments. Needless to say, I was in Heaven! There were many choices from but I decided to stick with the basics - ketchup, honey mustard, ranch, sweet and sour, and chipotle sauce. Yes, it may seem ridiculous to suggest that anyone person would ever need this many dipping items, however, this is how I eat my fries. James always jokes that fries are only my favorite food because it gives me something to eat with my condiments; unfortunately, he's right.

Look! It's James and the Giant Peach

Obviously, I needed to be in a picture with the Giant Peach as well. There I am!

The Book Thing

On Saturday, James and I went to "The Book Thing" in Baltimore. It's basically just a warehouse full of books that need new homes. It has hundreds of thousands of books held within four rooms and organized by category. People can come into the book thing and look for books they might be interested in reading to take home. The best part is that the books are completely free! That's right, you can take as many books home as you would like for ZERO DOLLARS! James and I each took a few books home to read. Right now I'm reading Jane Austen's "The Watsons" and James started with a book about Abraham Lincoln. How completely awesome!
